Yet despite its growing presence, many people are still unsure what CBD actually is, let alone the differences between the various forms available. What Is CBD?
CBD, or cannabidiol, is a naturally occurring compound found in the hemp plant. Unlike THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD is non-intoxicating and non-psychoactive, meaning it does not produce the “high” associated with cannabis.
Today, CBD is used in a wide range of products, from skincare and cosmetics to personal care product such as oils and balms. Food and drink products containing CBD have also gained popularity as these are thought to promote relaxation without producing any “high” effects.
What Is CBD Isolate?
CBD isolate is a highly refined form of CBD.
During the extraction and refinement process, other plant compounds are removed, leaving purified cannabidiol. The result is an ingredient that contains CBD without the additional cannabinoids, terpenes or plant matter found in other hemp extracts.
CBD Types & Spectrums
There are three main types of CBD commonly used in consumer products:
1. CBD Isolate
CBD isolate contains purified cannabidiol and no other cannabinoids. It is highly refined and THC-free. More simply put, this is CBD in its purest form, without the additional hemp compounds found in broad-spectrum or full-spectrum extracts.
2. Broad-Spectrum CBD
Broad-spectrum CBD contains cannabidiol alongside other naturally occurring hemp compounds, but with THC removed.
3. Full-Spectrum CBD
Full-spectrum CBD contains cannabidiol together with a wider range of naturally occurring cannabinoids and terpenes from the hemp plant, including trace amounts of THC where legally permitted.
Why Does Hoily Contain CBD Isolate?
