What Does ‘Fragrance-Free’ Actually Mean?
A fragrance-free product is one that has not had perfumes or additional scents added during formulation. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean that all fragrance-free products entirely lack smell. Many naturally derived ingredients have their own subtle aromas. Plant oils, botanical extracts and naturally occurring ingredients can all contribute to the overall scent of a product. This is to be expected and simply reflects the ingredients themselves rather than any added perfumes.
Why Fragrance-Free Lube?
While scented lubes may appeal to some, others prefer to avoid products with added fragrance when used on intimate skin, which can be more delicate and sensitive. For this reason, some choose products with smaller and simpler ingredient lists and without added fragrance. Everyone’s skin is different and a fragrance-free formulation removes a non-essential ingredient category that some may prefer to avoid.
A Thoughtful Formulation & Approach
We embarked on a journey to create a personal lubricant with minimal ingredients that are naturally derived, with every single one chosen for a specific purpose.
Rather than adding fragrance to mask the natural aroma of any oils and botanical ingredients, we instead focused on creating the right natural balance. Hoily combines naturally derived ingredients including olive squalane, jojoba oil, hemp seed oil, calendula extract and vitamin E, alongside 750 mg of pure CBD isolate.
The result is a premium personal lubricant with a subtle natural and neutral scent that comes from the ingredients themselves, not from added perfumes. Avoiding added fragrance is part of Hoily’s broader aim to create a carefully considered, clean, and minimal product with ingredient transparency at its core.
